Anyhow, all the focus on rainbows reminded me of this talk by President Uchtdorf in the recent General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and, specifically, this quote:
"When we are grateful to God in our circumstances, we can experience gentle peace in the midst of tribulation. In grief, we can still lift up our hearts in praise. In pain, we can glory in Christ’s Atonement. In the cold of bitter sorrow, we can experience the closeness and warmth of heaven’s embrace.
We sometimes think that being grateful is what we do after our problems are solved, but how terribly short-sighted that is. How much of life do we miss by waiting to see the rainbow before thanking God that there is rain?"
...Yes. I am thankful that my little boy sang goodbye to Ricky the puppet today and he was on key! I am grateful for a 14 month old boy's little booty shake and the way he sings along to the "Blue's Clues" theme song! I am grateful for an 11 year old and a 9 year old who cleaned my hurricane of a house today as a surprise and brought me a plate of cookies, beautifully decorated with dandelions (or as Gavin calls them, "Daniel Lions"). And...I am grateful for a husband who is my #1 cheerleader as I attempt to finish my Psychology course this week (gah! A 20 page paper and a final in the next 8 days!?!?!)...what a wonderful man he is!

I am grateful for a wonderful and talented daughter (congrats on that 100% essay) who chose a great husband and is raising four amazing boys!
